One of the things we were happy about when we bought this house was that it was level. Many of the houses we've looked at were far from straight (not that there is anything wrong with that). The dear old Captain, has been as straight as a pirate's peg leg so far. This past week however, we discovered a rafter that hooks like the beak on that pirate's proverbial parrot.
The rafter in question is only a problem because it runs down from the attic and through where a wall needs to be. The wall needs to be built around the rafter. If it was straight, it wouldn't be a big deal, but it isn't. After a couple of mis-guided attempts and a few new skills, the problem is solved. Or at least it will be once the walls are up and no one can see it what I've done.
In other news, our windows have arrived, we'll soon be installing them. I have a feeling that this great weather will run for the hills the minute we go to put them in.
