We've got stairs. Real ones. Fully safe, full structural support, wide enough for an average human. What a relief. So many things have been waiting on the stairs. Believe it or not, everything from the washer and dryer to the closets upstairs somehow depended on the exact placement of the stairs.
This was the job that we decided to farm out, due to the complications of it all, along with the kitchen beam just to get it done. We had estimates from a few contractors. All happy to come by, some even twice, to measure and give estimates. One then said he was too busy with a bigger contract, fair enough. He has since dropped by just to see how we're doing with our project and offer some advice. The others just never got back to us or returned calls, texts or emails. Not impressed.
In the end we hired a company from McAdam, called Home Concepts. Bob the owner and Brad, the guy who came to build the stairs were great, the stairs were built FAST and at a fair price. There may be a story about the design having to change after one iteration was built, but I'm sure that was at someone else's house.
So that's that, the stairs are in, I'm continuing with prepping the frame for insulation and still cleaning and fixing odds and ends here and there. It is really coming along now. Looking forward to next weekend when we have some high-calibre help coming from Fredericton, should be fun and productive.
Okay, it's Friday at 3pm and It is really time to cut out of work and get to work, the walls aren't going to build themselves. I can't remember if anyone at work reads this blog, hope not.
