Last weekend was a big one to be sure. John and Mark dropped by with tools and energy aplenty. They did a great job of framing up our upstairs bathroom and a wall above the front door. It was a tricky job due to the slight irregularities common in older houses, but the job is done and we appreciate it. Not too much framing left and the walls will be ready for the next stage.
Moira and I spent most of the weekend installing our first new window. We began late on Saturday and finished it up Sunday afternoon. It isn't too hard, but prepping the old frames and removing the old window without damaging anything took some time. Now that we've seen exactly how the original situation is constructed and comes apart, we'll have it down to a couple of hours per window after a couple of more I think.
Weekdays have also been productive, I've installed five vents in the house. Three in the knee-walls, one for the dryer and one for the bathroom fan. This weekend is a long one and we have big plans. The kitchen wall needs to be re-configured for the new backyard door and a different size of window. This will involved removing all the siding, the cladding, the insulation, moving the framing members and re-constructing it with new materials. Might be the last three days in a row we have good, warm weather so we'd better get it done now. It wouldn't do to have a 3 meter hole in the house during an early snow.
Happy long weekend.
